Carl Frampton splits from Cyclone Promotions
Carl Frampton has confirmed on Monday afternoon that he has left Cyclone Promotions in a statement he announces on his twitter “I can confirm that I have parted company with Barry McGuigan and Cyclone Promotions. I would like to thank Barry, the McGuigan family and Cyclone promotions for our time together.
After last month’s fight against Mexican Andres Gutierrez was called off due to injuries sustained in a shower slip it hasn’t been plain sailing for the Jackal with various things undoubtedly happening behind the scenes.
It was widely reported last week that Frampton was going to split away after his homecoming bout was cancelled and now it has been officially confirmed by the boxer himself.
Frampton had many of success with the McGuigans becoming the first Northern Irish boxer to become a two-weight world champion with a superb display against Leo Santa Cruz in Las Vegas to become one of the greatest sportsmen out of the province.
However since the rematch and his defeat to Santa Cruz things haven’t been right for the Tigers bay born fighter and it was time for a change. All the speculation is over, so it is now a waiting game to see where Frampton goes next in his fighting career.
At the end of the statement Frampton goes on to say, “I still believe that I’m the best featherweight in the world and I promise my fans that I am continuing with my efforts to get my homecoming fight rescheduled in the very near future”.
The final part is music to fans of the Jackals ears with Windsor Park the reported venue for his homecoming with many fans left disappointed that they couldn’t get their hands-on tickets for the Gutierrez fight due to the capacity of the SSE Arena Belfast.
