The Return of ‘The Jackal’
The former unified Super-Bantamweight champion and Featherweight champion, Carl ‘The Jackal’ Frampton returns to the ring this Saturday where he faces Mexican, Andres Gutierrez (35-1-1).
Frampton returns to the ring for the first time since the only loss of his career, to pound-for-pound superstar and hard hitting Mexican, Leo Santa Cruz. The defeat came in the rematch between the two, when they faced off in the fighting capital of the World, Las Vegas, with the Mexican getting a majority decision verdict to reclaim the WBA Super Featherweight title, he had lost to Frampton in July 2016.
Now Frampton will be looking to work his way towards another world title shot, with IBF champion Lee Selby’s name been brandished about if he comes through the test of Gutierrez, in front of his home fans in Belfast this weekend.
It will be the first time the ‘Jackal’ has fought in Belfast since 2015, where he defended his IBF World Super Bantamweight crown against American Chris Avalos, who he stopped by TKO in round 5.
Frampton v Gutierrez will be aired live on Channel 5 from 10.10pm this Saturday, with fight fans invited to a public workout on Wednesday 26th July at 12.30pm at the Victoria Square Shopping Centre and the Weigh in on Friday 28th July at 1pm at the Europa Hotel completes all the pre fight action.
