Joseph Parker v Hughie Fury – WBO Heavyweight Championship
Hughie Fury has got his long awaited world title shot, when he takes on New Zealand’s Joseph Parker for the WBO Heavyweight title, in Manchester on 23 September.
Fury, was suppose to face Parker earlier in the year but a back injury forced him to withdraw from the bout, which was going to take place in Auckland, New Zealand.
Ahead of the world title showdown, Fury, is going to have a warmup fight at London’s, Copperbox Arena on 8 July, against at this stage an unnamed opponent.
Fury, has been out of the ring since April 2016, so the fight on 8 July, will be to remove any ring rust ahead of the biggest fight of his career.
Joseph Parker, defended his WBO title in May, against Razvan Cojanu, who stepped in for the injured Fury, but despite Parker picking up a victory over his Romanian opponent, he struggled to get into his groove and laboured to a points victory, something ‘Team Fury’ will surly take positives from.
Parker, beat Andy Ruiz Jr, for the vacant WBO Heavyweight title in December 2016, after Hughie’s cousin Tyson, had to vacate the belt.
